The Table Series

Sunday, August 2, 2015 Saint Peters NSW, Australia

Yesterday I went to The Table Series, hosted by @koentadyy and @katnt at COMMUNE Lounge in St Peters. The workshop was about the art of food flatlay photography.

Many of you have probably noticed that this style of photography has become quite popular on Instagram and in the blogger world, so when I found out about this workshop I bought my ticket straight away! I've always been curious how bloggers and Instagramers create their flatlays and I was so glad that I would finally be able to learn some tips and tricks from some of the best flatlay photographers on Instragram.

This workshop was so much better than I had expected. Seeing as I've never been to one of these events, I thought that the guests would be sitting down on seated rows of chairs and the host would be at the front with a microphone - kind of like a lecture, and we could ask questions and take down notes, but boy was I wrong, it was such a chilled gathering. We started off by going around the room and introducing ourselves which was a really good way to get to know people the people that went to the event for the same reason you did.

After the introduction @koentadyy and @katnt did a demonstration of a simple flatlay. Then we went off into groups so we could do some of our own. I wish I had taken a photo of the 'props' table before we all got into it, everything looked so beautiful and was arranged wonderfully.

The COMMUNE Lounge was incredible! As soon as I walked in, my first thought was that I wanted to live there! It is the perfect studio house, and the amount of natural light that gets in the house is insane.

When we were done taking our photos we came back together and finally got to eat all the delicious food that we were photographing. Everything was vegetarian (except for the cheeky bacon on some of the donuts haha). I was so excited to try Pressed Juices so I immediately grabbed one of their green juices and to eat I had one of the salads that contained carrots, pumpkin and sweet potato, it was so good!

This experience was amazing, I've improved on my flatlay photography skills, talked to like-minded people, shared a meal and had a great time. I can't wait for the next one!
